Sultan Azhar ud-din Muhammad Azim Mirza, Azim us-Shan Bahadur (
December 15 ,1664 -March 18 ,1712 ) was the third son ofMughal emperor Bahadur Shah I , by his second wife,Maharajkumari Amrita Bai Sahiba .In 1712, at the time of his father's death, Azim-ush-shan was serving as governor of
Bengal ,Bihar , andOrissa . He immediately proclaimed himself emperor. However, he was killed (drowned in theRavi River ) shortly afterwards in the succession struggles that ensued.Azim-ush-shan was married four times. His first marriage was in 1668, to Rajkumari Bai Jas Kanwar Sahiba, the daughter of the
Rajput Raja ofKama . In 1692, he married his second wife, Nawab Aisha Begum Sahiba, a daughter of a Mughal courtier. He married in third wife, Nawab Giti Ara Begum Sahiba, daughter ofMughal emperor Muhammad Azam Shah in 1709. Finally, in 1715, he married his fourth wife, Sahiba Nizwan, a sister ofNawab Shaista Khan (Khwaja Inayat'ullah), the erstwhile governor ofKashmir . He had six sons and a daughter, includingFarrukhsiyar (son of Sahiba Nizwan), who reigned asMughal emperor between 1713 and 1719 AD.External links
