Titular see of Ombi
ObitanusLocation Country Egypt Information Denomination Roman Catholic Rite Latin Rite Current leadership Pope Benedict XVI Titular bishop Vacant Ombi is a titular see (vacant since 1966, as of 2011) in the Catholic church; the see corresponds to the city now known as Kom Ombo in Egypt.
Its main claim to fame is that Karol Wojtyła (the future Pope John Paul II) was titular bishop of Ombi from 1958 until 1963, when he was appointed Archbishop of Kraków.
In Polish it seems to be called Ombria (as in stolica tytularna Ombria), or more often seen in the genitive case as Ombrii, e.g., in the phrases biskupa tytularnego Ombrii.
