- Scramdisk
"Scramdisk" is a free OTFE (On-The-Fly
Encryption ) program forWindows 95 ,Windows 98 andWindows Me . A non-free version was also available forWindows NT .The original "Scramdisk" is no longer maintained; its author (Shaun Hollingworth) having joined Paul Le Roux (the author of the
E4M ) to produce ScramDisk's commercial successor, "DriveCrypt ". Although ScramDisk's source code is still available, this was only ever released (and licenced) for private study only and "not" for further development.A new project called "ScramDisk 4 Linux" (SD4L) provides access to Scramdisk containers. SD4L is a suite of Linux tools and a
graphical user interface (GUI) which allow the creation of, and access to ScramDisk encrypted container files. In particular, SD4L provides a Linux driver which enables mounting ScramDisk containers. ScramDisk for Linux also encrypts partitions on a hard disk or storage media such as USB sticks or floppy disks entirely as devices. Version 1.0, moreover, supports TrueCrypt containers.Free alternatives to "ScramDisk" exist, such as
CrossCrypt ,FreeOTFE andTrueCrypt .ee also
