This article is about a fictional weapon from the Cosmic Era of the anime Gundam metaseries.

The ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice is a mobile suit from the anime series "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny".

Design and construction

The ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice (∞ Justice) is an advanced mobile suit secretly built by Terminal, under the guidance of the Clyne Faction, and is based on the earlier ZGMF-X09A Justice. It utilizes the new Ultracompact Hyper-Deuterion Nuclear Fission Reactor, a new engine design and advanced weaponry that give it several times the combat ability of the original Justice. Infinite Justice has a detachable backpack/subflight lifter similar to that of its predecessor, and is armed with head- and chest-mounted CIWS, two beam sabers, a beam rifle, leg-mounted beam blades, and a shield that mounts a large beam boomerang/saber, a beam shield generator, and an extensional arrestor like that of the ZGMF-600 GuAIZ.

Infinite Justice's Fatum-01 subflight lifter is armed with two beam cannons, two short beam sabers mounted on the back of the two beam cannons, a nosetip-mounted beam saber and two wing-mounted beam blades similar to those of the ZGMF-X88S Gaia. Its joints are silver in colour, while its companion and counterpart unit ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom has gold joints and hands. Like its predecessor, the Infinite Justice can dock with a METEOR unit. The ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice uses an updated version of the operating system Generation Unsubdued Nuclear Drive Assault Module (GUNDAM) complex.Fact|date=September 2008

History

Infinite Justice makes its debut in Cosmic Era 74, arriving on Earth together with the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom during the ZAFT invasion of Orb. It is delivered to Athrun Zala personally by Lacus Clyne, who pilots the Infinite Justice through atmospheric re-entry and lands in the "Archangel"'s mobile suit hangar to give it to Athrun. After talking with Lacus, Athrun takes off in the Infinite Justice to back-up Kira in the Strike Freedom, who was battling both the ZGMF-X42S Destiny and the ZGMF-X666S Legend and manages to chop off Destiny's wrist despite Athrun being injured before the fight. The Justice also plays a highly prominent role in the end of the Second Bloody Valentine War. First, Athrun disables both Shinn Asuka's Destiny and Lunamaria Hawke's Impulse; he then cripples the Minerva by utilizing the multiple beam cutters on the Justice's Fatum-01 backpack to destroy the Minerva's spaceflight engines. Lastly, Athrun used the Justice's backpack, along with help from Mu La Flaga's ORB-01 Akatsuki's DRAGOONs, to destroy Requiem. In "Gundam SEED Destiny" "Final Plus", when the battle is brought to an end, the Infinite Justice rescues both Shinn and Lunamaria.

Trivia

* The Infinite Justice was originally to be called the "Knight Justice", but the name was later changed.Verify source|date=December 2007

* Infinite Justice's head crest displays the text "X-19A DICIANNOVE", which means "Nineteen" in Italian and is a reference to the Infinite Justice's model number.

* Although Infinite Justice is the Mobile Suit's official name, it is only referred to as simply the "Justice" in the show.

* The only time that the Infinite Justice utilized its extensional arrestor/anchor was during the opening of Final Plus, where it seen fighting with Destiny.

* In an interview with setting advisor Shigeru Morita he reveals that the Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice are powered by a Hyper Deuterion nuclear reactor like the Destiny and Legend.
* Infinite Justice is the only one of Athrun Zala's Gundam mobile suits to survive its series (GAT-X303 Aegis Gundam and ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam were self-destructed; the ZAKU he used early on in the series was seemingly damaged beyond repair during re-entry; ZGMF-X23S Saviour Gundam was destroyed by Kira Yamato in the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam and the ZGMF-X2000 GOUF Ignited he piloted briefly when escaping ZAFT was destroyed by Shinn Asuka in his ZGMF-X42S Destiny.) In fact, Infinite Justice did not receive damage in any battle, unless one counts the deliberate sacrifice of the Fatum-01 subflight lifter. However, it was only sortied in three battles, making it among the most underused mecha in Gundam SEED Destiny, along with the Akatsuki. However, in Gundam SEED Destiny Final when Lacus Clyne was returning to PLANT, Infinite Justice is seen flying near the Eternal with a replacement pack.

* It is also the only MS piloted by Athrun to be mentioned in the titles of the Gundam Seed Suit CDs (volume 9, whereas Kira's Strike was mentioned in volume 1, and Strike Freedom in volume 10).
