Liverpool and 1840sIreland : a young boy named Tom Mullen is abandoned in a Liverpool toy store. When he is found, he's put in thefoster care system, orSocial Services , the "SS," which Tom compares to theNazi SS. He moves from home to home. One day, Tom discovers a
mass grave at a construction site near his school. He enters the site, and is sucked back to1847 Ireland at the height of thePotato Famine . The Monaghan family, who take him in, have a son named Tully whose resemblance to Tom is astonishing.
