[ [http://www.arabnews.com/?page=6§ion=0&article=107581&d=7&m=3&y=2008 Arab News, March 7th 2008] ]Layout and Design
The basic design is a curved building (120°) with the main entrance in the center of the inner curve leading to a set of central courts. [ [http://www.batleypartners.com/index.php?mod=submain&SubPage_ID=6 Batley Partners, description of the proposed building] ] A curved "Central Boulevard" runs through the whole length of the mall connecting some stair wells and with the floors open in some middle sections providing daylight to all floors. On the ground floor smaller "East" and "West Boulevards" run parallel to the larger central one. Besides the central courts two larger and two smaller "Avenues" link the boulevards in right angles. On the first floor, based on the same stair wells the layout is less regular while in the basement only the "Central Boulevard" and the central courts provide shops with the rest of the space left to the car park. On the west side in the middle of the outer curve, in a rectangular block connected to the curved part, there are a Bowling center in the basement, a large Danube Hypermarket on the ground floor and the "Oceanica" theme park on the first floor. As in most large Saudi Arabian shopping Mall praying areas are provided. There is each a mens and a ladies mosque on the first floor near the theme park.
