sensei of the Mountains and Rivers Order founded byJohn Daido Loori , from whom Shugen receivedshiho in July 1997.Seager, 257] As a Dharma holder in theSoto tradition, Shugen currently serves as vice-abbot ofZen Mountain Monastery in theCatskill Mountains ofNew York and is also the branch president of the Zen Center of New York City. He also manages the National Buddhist Prison SanghaPrebish, 100] , which started as The Zen Mountain Monastery Prison Program in 1984.
