VARIE (Visual Arts Research Institute Edinburgh)

The Visual Arts Research Institute Edinburgh (VARIE) is a research consortium which consists of:

*University of Edinburgh
*Edinburgh College of ArtWith the following partners:
*National Galleries of Scotland
*National Museums Scotland
*National Library of ScotlandAnd affiliated members:
*University of St. Andrews
*University of Glasgow

VARIE was established in 1999 and is a member of the International Association of Research Institutes in the History of Art.

Activities

VARIE encourages and manages collaborative and interdisciplinary projects into visual culture. It organises events, such as seminars and conferences, publishes conference papers and provides advice on funding applications.
