Bachelor's degree (often in nontechnical subjects such as literature), but started an undergraduate program in software development in August 2007. Four MSc study programmes are currently offered, two of which are international and are taught in English. There are approximately 40 members of the scientific staff, 40 Ph.D. students and more than 1000 students. Also, many external lecturers are affiliated with the university.The IT University of Copenhagen was established in
Copenhagen , Denmark in1999 . At that time, it was in Danish called "IT-højskolen". In 2003, when a new Danish University Law was passed, the IT University was officially appointed a University, the twelfth and smallest university in Denmark, and therefore changed name to the IT University, also in Danish.In 2004, the university moved to its own new building in the Ørestad development, right next to the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Copenhagen and the new headquarters of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR). The new building was designed by Danish architect

As of june, 2008, the IT University of Copenhagen offers 1 bachelor programme, 4 master of science programmes, and 6 postgraduate programmes.
Undergraduate level
There is one bachelor programme, started in August 2007, Softwareudvikling (software development, offered in danish only).
Graduate level
All graduate study programmes award the degree "Master of Science in IT" (cand. it.), but there are four programmes which are structurally different. The programmes are Digital Design og Kommunikation (digital design and communication, offered in danish only), E-business (offered in danish only), Media Technology and Games and Software Development.
Postgraduate level
The IT University of Copenhagen also offers a diploma in IT (danish only), as well as 5 different master's degrees (all of which are offered in danish only): Organisering og implementering (organisation and implementation), Interaktionsdesign og multimedier (Interaction design and multimedia), Softwarekonstruktion (Software construction), It-ledelse og strategi (It-management and strategy) and Master i sundhedsIT (Master in health sector it).
