The 2004 Buffalo Funds - NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament was held in March at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. This was the 67th Annual NAIA DI basketball tournament and features 32 teams playing in a single-elimination format. This was the third year the tournament was back home in Kansas City. The 2004 NAIA National Champion was Mountain State (W.Va.) beating Concordia (Calif.) by a score of 74 to 70. This match up was a repeat of the 2003 NAIA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. In 2003, both these teams battled it out on the hardwood until Concordia (6) took the overtime win over the then 9 seeded Mountain State. In 2004 it would be the 1 seed Mountain State taking home the banner and trophy over new rival Concordia. The other teams that rounded out the NAIA Final Four were Georgetown (Ky.) and Mobile (Ala.), respectively.
