Biography

Originally from Saskatchewan, Ormiston attended Evan Hardy Collegiate in Saskatoon, graduating in 1977. [ [http://schools.spsd.sk.ca/evanhardy/School/about.html Evan Hardy Collegiate - Our Alumni] ] She then studied at Carleton University in Ottawa, joining CBC after graduation to become host and reporter for various Ontario regional broadcasts. She also served as co-anchor of CBC Television's "First Edition" in Halifax, Nova Scotia as well as CBC's National TV Reporter in the Maritime provinces. [Connolly, Pat. During the 1990s, she worked for rival network CTV, most notably as host of its long-running "W-FIVE" current affairs program. In 2001, she rejoined CBC to work on "Marketplace," and later, "Fifth Estate." She is based in Toronto, and has reported from locations such as Afghanistan (2007), Israel (2006) and Lebanon (2006). Currently, Ormiston hosts "Ormiston Online" for CBC's Canada Votes.

Over the last 25 years, Ormiston has reported on events throughout North America and has covered most election campaigns. She has taught broadcast journalism courses at Ryerson Polytechnic University in Toronto.
