USS "Alpha" (SP-586) was a
motor yacht that served as apatrol boat in theUnited States Navy duringWorld War I History
"Alpha", a convert|56|ft|m|adj=on motor yacht, was built in 1911 at
Riverside, Rhode Island , by theNarragansett Bay Yacht Yard . 23 December 1918 , "Alpha" suffered a fire while atMelville, Rhode Island . The Navy tug USS|Mariner|SP-1136|2 steamed from Newport to assist "Alpha" and her crew.
