Csank was manager of the
Hungarian national football team between April 1996 and November 1997. During this time, Hungary advanced from the World Cup qualification group but suffered a devastating 1-7, 5-0 defeat againstFR Yugoslavia . Csank displayed a sense of dry humour after the first half of the first match, when the reporter asked him what he's going to say in the locker room, he just said "...probably not 'keep it up'...".After the losses against Yugoslavia, Csank resigned from his position and was followed by
Bertalan Bicskei .
