- Willie McSporran
Willie McSporran, MBE heads the
Isle of Gigha 's Heritage Trust and was a driving force behind the island's community buy-out. The trust successfully raised £4m to buy the 3,400-acre Hebridean island in 2002, placing it in the hands of its 120-strong population."The trust turned 300 years of population decline on its head by encouraging new development and the growth of the local economy. A sign of the surge of people wanting to relocate to Gigha is that we are struggling to meet the demand for housing despite building 18 new homes."
His brother is
Seamus McSporran .External links
