Kmt is a journal of ancient Egypt published by Kmt communications. The journal takes its name from the ancient Egyptian word for their country, kemet, meaning "black land" in reference to the fertile black soil of the Nile valley. The first issue was published in Spring 1990, and is published quarterly. Its editorial advisory board includes such notable Egyptologists as Zahi Hawass, James P. Allen, T.G.H. James, and Richard H. Wilkinson. The journal presents feature stories, reports from recent excavations, announcements of upcoming lectures and symposia, and book reviews.
