Murtaza Shibli

Murtaza Shibli is editor of quarterly "Kashmir Affairs", published from London [www.kashmiraffairs.org] . The Journal is the first independent journal dedicated to the Kashmir issue and its Indian Pakistan relations.

Born in Bijbehara on the Indian side of Kashmir in 1971, Murtaza Shibli started his career as journalist and columnist and later worked as security consultant for the International Committee of the Red Cross [ICRC] . He later moved to London and is now settled there.Murtaza Shibli has written widely about Kashmir - from its culture to politics and has published worldwide - from magazines like New Internationalist to newspapers in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and website like Counterpunch.org and countercurrents.org. He is fiercely independent and is very critical of India and Pakistan about their policies in Kashmir.

He also composes poetry in Kashmiri, Urdu and English. His Urdu poetry is mainly about the political situation in Kashmir and human rights violations.
