The Tancred, later Lawson-Tancred Baronetcy, of Boroughbridge in the County of York, is a title in the
Baronetage of England . It was created on17 November 1662 for Thomas Tancred. He was a descendant of Richard Tankard, who shortly after theNorman Conquest owned lands atBoroughbridge inYorkshire , where the family is still settled. The ninth Baronet married Margery Ellinor, eldest daughter and co-heir of Andrew Sherlock Lawson, younger brother ofSir John Grant Lawson, 1st Baronet (seeLawson Baronets ).
