USS "Pharris" (FF-1094) was a Knox-class
destroyer escort named after Medal of Honor recipient Lieutenant CommanderJackson C. Pharris . It was originally designated as DE-1094 and later reclassified as a frigate in theUnited States Navy . In1992 the ship was decommissioned and sold to theMexican Navy . It was recommissioned as ARM "Victoria", named after Mexico's first president,Guadalupe Victoria .During the

Tom Clancy 's1986 novel, "Red Storm Rising ", the "Pharris" suffers extreme damage following a torpedo attack by a Victor IIIsubmarine (the bow forward of theASROC mounts was torn off), warranting an extensive repair.
