Wang Yao (traditional Chinese: 王堯; simplified Chinese: 王尧; pinyin: "wang yao"; born
October 14 ,1972 ) is a Chinesejournalist . He has won several journalism awards and is aReuters visiting fellow atThe University of Oxford .Since 1999 he has worked for
China Youth Daily in various capacities, including staff reporter and as deputy editor of the Business News department. In 2004, he was appointed Editor-in-Chief of Elite Reference (Qingnian Cankao ), a weekly newspaper of the China Youth Daily Group, which focuses on international news. He is now senior reporter and central bureau chief of China Youth Daily.He has covered many events during this time - including China’s access to WTO,
China National Congress , corruption in the entrance examination in the China Conservatory of Music. He has won national news prizes, including the China News Award (the highest award for the annual comprehensive news writing in China) and the National Excellent Journalist Honor, for covering SARS news in 2003. He was awarded a Laula Cha Fellowship and was an intern at theFinancial Times in 2004.Prior to being a journalist, he was a civil servant in the Beijing government, where he worked to protect intellectual property.
Wang graduated from
Beijing Normal University with a Bachelor of Chinese Literature in 1994. In 2004, he received a Master of Law degree fromRenmin University of China .Had made speeches at Beijing Normal University, Renmin University of China,
Westminster University (London,UK),The University of Oxford andThe University of Cambridge .He is married and lives in
Beijing .
