Tiffeneau received his Ph.D in science in 1907 and his Ph.D in medicine in 1910. Tiffeneau worked at the hospitals Hôpital Boucicaut and from 1924 at Hôtel-Dieu de Paris. In 1926 he became professor at the Sorbonne. At the time of his death in 1945 he was president of the French Chemical Society.
