Ian Cook

Ian Cook is Associate Professor of Geography at the University of Exeter in the UK, and formerly senior lecturer in geography at the University of Birmingham. After gaining a teaching position at University of Wales, Lampeter in 1994, Cook finally achieved his PhD in human geography from the University of Bristol in 1997, the end result of a controversial process (some of the PhD deals with the failure of his original PhD project in the Caribbean). Today he studies geographies of commodification, often with reference to exotic frut, and is completing a book on ethnographic methods of inquiry. He has written widely on human geography.
