Ian Cook (doctor)

Ian A. Cook, MD is physician-researcher at UCLA, serving as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the
UCLA School of Medicine, Director of the [http://Depression.ucla.edu UCLA Depression Research Program] , and Associate Director of the [http://brain.ucla.edu UCLA Laboratory of Brain, Behavior, and Pharmacology] . He graduated from Princeton University before going to the Yale University School of Medicine where he received his MD degree. He completed his residency training in psychiatry at UCLA before joining the faculty and becoming ABPN board certified in psychiatry. He is also a research scientist in the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior (formerly the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute) and in the UCLA Brain Research Institute (BRI).

His work has largely focused on the care of mental illnesses and disorders of complex human behavior. He is a co-inventor of the cordance method for studying regional brain activity with EEG.

He is President of the [http://www.WCCBP.org West Coast College of Biological Psychiatry] (2007-2009) and is a member of the Executive Committee on Practice Guidelines of the American Psychiatric Association.
