Gazi-Stadion

Gazi-Stadion

Gazi-Stadion (official German name "Gazi-Stadion auf der Waldau", formerly "Waldaustadion") is a stadium in the German city of Stuttgart, in the southern district of Degerloch. It is located adjacent to the city's famous TV tower.

The stadium is the homeground of current 3rd Liga football side Stuttgarter Kickers, who have played their home fixtures there since its inauguration on June 18th, 1905.

Before 1987, when it was officially named "Waldau-Stadion" (after the name of the neighborhood, where it is located), it was simply known as "Kickers-Platz" ("Kickers' Ground") or "Kickers-Stadion" ("Kickers' Stadium").

It was refurbished in 1913, 1982, 1997 and 2000.

Since 1995, it is also the home ground of American Football team Stuttgart Scorpions of the German Football League.

In July 2004, the stadium was renamed Gazi-Stadion after its main sponsor, German company Garmo AG, that sells its products under the name "Gazi".

It has a capacity of 11 544 seats, which makes it the second biggest stadium in Stuttgart.
