Gaultier GAA Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located on the outskirts of Dunmore East (An Dún Mór Thoir in Irish) which is a popular tourist and fishing village in County Waterford, Ireland. Situated on the west side of Waterford Harbour on Ireland's southeastern coast, it lies within the barony of Gaultier (Gáll Tír – "foreigners' land" in Irish): a reference to the influx of firstly Viking (Norwegian) and then Norman settlers in the area. The club is exclusively concerned with Gaelic Football.

Football

History

Gaultier GAA Club was founded in 1927 by an amalgamation of Dunmore Gaels and nearby village club Ballymacaw Ramblers. The club sports the famous Green and Gold Colours similar to that of Kerry and like the Kerry has a proud footballing tradition and is seen to be one of Waterford's footballing strongholds.

The club solely plays Gaelic Football and has sister clubs in Ballygunner and in Passage, two nearby villages which concentrate solely on Hurling.

The club has a fine record at Under-Age football winning every Under-Age Grade A Football Chmpionship from Under-12 all the way through to Under-21. Due to the success of Gaultiers sister clubs Ballygunner and Passage whom are the hurling arms of the club, Gaultier have never won a Waterford Senior Football Title.

Recent times

The club has contested two Minor A Finals in 2002 and 2005 losing to Ballinacourty and Stradbally respectively.

In 2003 the club surprised many by reaching an Under 21 A Final losing to Ballinacourty.

The club went through a very successful 2003 season reaching the Munster Intermediate Football Final in 2004 losing to Carbery Rangers. On the way beating Limerick champions Mungret and Tipperary champions Killenaule.

In the club's first season 2005 in the Waterford Senior Football Championship they reached the Semi-Finals only barely losing out to eventual champions Stradbally.2006 resulted in a similar defeat to Stradbally at the Quarter Final Stage.
