Sammy Vick

Samuel Bruce Vick (April 12, 1895 - August 17, 1986) was a right fielder in Major League Baseball who played from 1917 through 1921 for the New York Yankees (1917-1920) and Boston Red Sox (1921). Listed at 5' 10", 163 lb., Vick batted and threw right-handed. He was born in Batesville, Mississippi.

Vick is best remembered as the outfielder replaced by Babe Ruth in the Yankees during the 1920 season. Then, he was sent by New York with Muddy Ruel, Del Pratt and Hank Thormahlen to Boston in exchange for Waite Hoyt, Harry Harper, Wally Schang and Mike McNally.

In a five-season career, Vick was a .248 hitter (159-for-641) with two home runs and 50 RBI in 213 games.

Vick died in Memphis, Tennessee at age 91.
