1897 Emil Ziehl developed the first external rotor motor. 1910 he founded the Ziehl-Abegg Electricity Company in Berlin. In the post-war year of 1949, Ziehl-Abegg OHG was reconstructed by the brothers Guenther and Heinz Ziehl in Kuenzelsau. The production of the external rotor motor as a motor for fans began 1960. 1973 was the beginning of internationalisation and since 2001 Ziehl-Abegg has been a family owned, joint-stock company.Subsidiaries are in Poland, China, Russia, USA, Czech Republic, Sweden, Great Britain, Finland, France, Italy, Australia, Singapore, Switzerland, Austria, Ukraine, Spain, Benelux, South Africa, Japan & Turkey.
