Arnab Goswami, the Editor in Chief of TIMES NOW, is not just one of the most popular faces on Indian television, but a representative of a young assertive India, where television news is a great equalizer. Having launched TIMES NOW, an English news channel in 2004, Arnab has caused one of the biggest upsets in recent years in Indian TV by surpassing the leadership position of NDTV in a span of just two years. A firm believer in news that is “popular but not populist”.
Arnab is a winner of the Asian TV awards, the Society Young Achievers award, and a product of the Universities of Oxford (Masters, 1994) and Cambridge (visiting fellow, 2000). He authored his first book, “Combating Terrorism: The Legal Challenge” in 2001.
Arnab’s priority is establishing direct connect with viewers, and in helping make India the biggest TV news market in ten years.
Arnab Goswami hails from Assam. As an army officer's son, he did his schooling in various cities. He did his 10th Board exams from Mt St Mary's School in Delhi Cantonment. He did his 12th Board exams from Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jabalpur Cantonment. He graduated in Sociology, topping Delhi University from Hindu College and did his Mastersin Social Anthropology from St Antony's College, Oxford University on a Felx Scholarship.
