"The Grand Island Independent" is Grand Island, Nebraska's daily newspaper. It publishes a newspaper every day of the year except Christmas and circulates to many surrounding counties besides Hall.

GateHouse Media purchased "The Independent" from Morris Communications in October 2007; Morris acquired the paper in 1995 through its purchase of Stauffer Communications.
