Kevin Gutzman

Education, writing, and academic career

Gutzman studied as an undergraduate, graduate, and professional school student at the University of Texas, completing his B.A. there in 1985, and earning his M.P.Aff. and J.D. in 1990. He then matriculated as a graduate student in history at the University of Virginia, where he was awarded an M.A. in history in 1994 and a Ph.D. in 1999.

Scholarly journals publishing Gutzman's peer-reviewed articles include "The Journal of Southern History", "The Journal of the Early Republic", "The Review of Politics", "The Journal of the Historical Society", "The Virginia Magazine of History and Biography", "Continuity: A Journal of History," "The Journal of Libertarian Studies," "The Greek Orthodox Theological Review," and "Essays in History."
