Shoemake Nunatak (coord|75|33|S|140|5|W|) is a
nunatak immediately west ofBilley Bluff at the southwest end of theIckes Mountains , coastalMarie Byrd Land . The nunatak was photographed from aircraft of theUnited States Antarctic Service (USAS), 1939-41, and was mapped by theUnited States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys andU.S. Navy aerial photography, 1959-65. Named byAdvisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) forJohn L. Shoemake , aerographer, U.S. Navy, weather observer atBrockton Station on theRoss Ice Shelf during two summer seasons, 1968-69 and 1969-70.
