Henry Gage, 5th Viscount Gage
- Henry Gage, 5th Viscount Gage
Henry Charles Gage, 5th Viscount Gage (April 2 1854 – April 18 1912) was Viscount Gage of Firle Place during the early 20th century.
Gage inherited Firle from Sir Henry Hall (his grandfather) in 1877.
He was engaged to the musician, Violet Gordon-Woodhouse, but she broke it off when the facts of life were explained to her. [Douglas-Home, Jessica, "Violet : The Life and Loves of Violet Gordon Woodhouse", 1997]
He married Leila Peel in 1894 and commissioned major alterations and renovations of Firle Place by Billy Freeman Thomas. Gage had a new staircase and garden terraces installed at the manor for his wife to entertain nobility and royalty.
