"Love 'em and Weep" (1927) is a comedy short silent film directed by Fred Guiol for Hal Roach Studios.

The cast included Stan Laurel, Mae Busch, Jimmy Finlayson, and Oliver Hardy. Since both actors Laurel and Hardy appear in the film it is considered an early Laurel and Hardy film despite the fact that Hardy's role is just a bit part, and they barely share any scenes in the film at all.

This film was later remade almost scene for scene as their 1931 starring three-reel talkie "Chickens Come Home". This film was the first in which English character actor Charlie Hall was to appear with Laurel and Hardy. He played Tillsbury's butler, which Finlayson would play himself in the 1931 remake.

Plot

In "Love 'em and Weep" Jimmy Finlayson stars as Titus Tillsbury, a successful businessman who is visited by a blackmailing old flame, played by Mae Busch, who later repeated her role in the remake. The mildly dumb business associate who brings disaster upon his hapless employer is played by Stan Laurel in both films.

Oliver Hardy's role in the first version is a bit part, playing a guest at Tillsbury's house, while in the remake he takes on one of the lead roles of Stan's employer.
