Shrimal Jain

Shrimal Jain is an ancient Jain community originally from the Shrimal or Bhinmal town in southern Rajasthan.

They mainly reside in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madha Pradesh.

Prominent Shrimals include poet Banarasidas [Gateway to Indian Classical Literature By Various, Poornima Pillai,Published 2005Asiapac Books Pte Ltd, p. 138-139, ISBN 9812294279 ] , Jain scholar Kanji Swami and the builders of the Sambhavanath Calcutta Jain temple build by Rai Bahadur Badri Das in 1867 [Thacker's Guide to Calcutta By Walter Kelly Firminger, Published 1906, Thacker, Spink & Co.p. 65] .

They have historically connected with the Porwal and Oswal communities.
