Mohammed Hamid

Mohammed Hamid

Mohammed Hamid (born 1957 in Tanzania to an Indian family) is a British national convicted of training terrorists for the unsuccessful 21 July 2005 London bombings.[1] He is a former crack cocaine addict who found religion in the 1990s after a life of crime,[1] and has been nicknamed "Osama bin London".[2]

Before the failed bombing, Hamid was paid by BBC Two to appear in a programme about Muslims, first broadcast on 12 June 2005. He contacted the BBC after the incident, and admitted knowing some of the suspects, but they did not pass the information on to the police.[3][4]

He was reportedly a follower of Anwar al-Awlaki.[5]
