Poovarany

Poovarany is a village in Meenachil Pachayath, Palai, Kottayam district, Kerala, India.The Sacred Heart Church and Sree Mahadeva temple are the main religious centers.Two small rivers, the Cheruthode and Valiyathodu, flow through the area.

This is a beautiful village where in all the people are very friendly and lovable in nature. They live as if they are from a single family. All are educated, and all the members who work outside, want to come back to this village and settle.

The land around Poovarany is well-suited for cultivation. Rubber, pepper, coconut, paddy, ginger, and turmeric are common items produced here. Rubber is the major crop.

Major Centers are Kumbani, Ambalam, Charala, Vilakummaruth, Palli , Kochukottaram and Pachathode.

Most of the people belong to Syrian Christian and Hindu communities.

Ponkunnam and Palai are the nearest towns. It's very near to the pilgrimage center Bharanaganam.
