Megan 'Meg' Paterson is a fictional character in the BBC1 Scottish TV series Monarch of the Glen. Meg is played by Scottish actress Karen Westwood.
Meg Paterson is a Scottish dancing teacher who travels around the world plying her trade. Meg bumps into Golly Mackenzie and his daughter Jess when buying a jacket at the market. They all bump into each other again at the local pub - The Ghillie's Rest and Jess starts to think her dad likes Meg. Jess sets up a romantic meal for the two, but Golly seems unimpressed while Meg realises her true feelings for him. Golly tells Jess he is too old for Meg, but he eventually apologises to Meg for not being appreciative of the meal Jess set up and becomes Meg's new boyfriend. Meg and Golly go on holiday together where Meg receives a phone call asking her to dance on a boat cruise of the world. Meg accepts but changes her mind and stays with Golly. Later in the series Meg leaves Golly when she feels she is relying on him too much to get customers from around the village, but she returns to Golly's annoyance in the final episode of the series, revealing she is pregnant with Golly's baby. Between series, Meg has a baby boy, named Cameron, however to the devastation of Golly, Meg dies in childbirth, leaving Golly a single father.
