American Century Celebrity Golf Classic
- American Century Celebrity Golf Classic
The American Century Celebrity Golf Classic is the premier celebrity golf tournament on the Celebrity Players Tour. It is traditionally held during the second full week of July at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline, Nevada, on the shores of Lake Tahoe.
Rick Rhoden (7), Dan Quinn (4), and Billy Joe Tolliver (2) are the only celebrities who have won the tournament more than once.
The 2009 tournament is scheduled for July 14-19.
History
The first tournament was held in 1990 and sponsored by NBC, who broadcasts the second and third round coverage. Starting in 1991, Isuzu sponsored the tournament until 1998. American Century Investments is the current title sponsor since 1999.
From 1990 to 2003, the tournament used a stroke play format. Starting with the 2004 tournament, the modified stableford format has been used.
