They Sang As They Slew [http://www.myspace.com/theysangastheyslew] is an indie rock band from Toccoa, Georgia, also known simply as TSATS.

Formed out of the ashes of the rock band Canary (Canary was a successful side project of influential underground band Luxury [http://www.myspace.com/Luxury] during their hiatus from touring and recording...Canary [http://www.myspace.com/therockbandcanary] released a full length album: A Sound of Summer Running, a split ep called: Scissors and Blue volume 4, and garnered national, regional, and local accolades via press and radio play...during that time the members of Canary, Luxury, Viva Voce [http://www.myspace.com/vivavoce] , and Menomena [http://www.myspace.com/menomena] formed a national collective of independent musicians called The Cut and Paste Collective [http://www.myspace.com/thecutpastecollective] which released 15+ albums under its umbrella including a compilation CD. Canary also appeared on the Audiolab Records [http://www.thezooagency.com/clients/salutations/press.html] tribute to the Prayer Chain called "Salutations", covering the song Antarctica) in the fall of 2002.

The musicians in Canary changed when accomplished guitar player, and former bass player for Luxury and the art rock band Fae Rae, Chris Foley, left Canary to attend St. Vladimir's Orthodox Seminary, and Jordan Thomae (Locust Years) joined ranks with Jamey Bozeman (Luxury, The Barbie Stickers), Aaron Baber (Buzztown, John Doe Nation), and Doug Andrews (Fae Rae, Mantastic).

TSATS signed a 2 year record deal with Northern Records [http://www.northernrecords.com] , out of Orange County California, and released their first full length album "Get Well" in the fall of 2004 garnering critical acclaim, college and XM radio play.cn|date=March 2008 In March 2008 TSATS second release on Northern Records, "The Resistance", was released.
