The Tolerance Foundation

The Tolerance Foundation is a non-profit organization, located in Montreal, Canada. It was created in 1995 during the United Nations' Year of Tolerance. It has dedicated itself to the education of youth about cultural differences. The Tolerance Foundation strives to sensitize teenagers about the negative impacts of prejudices. To achieve this objective, The Tolerance Foundation relies on unique educational solutions: a traveling exhibit called the Tolerance Caravan, participative theater, and the Action Week Against Racism. The Caravan, our main activity, informs youth about the tools which society has given itself to fight discriminatory attitudes, such as the Canadian and Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms. The traveling exhibit is offered in both French and English. From inception to 2008, the Caravan has visited 255 high schools and cegeps, and met with approximately 225 000 students. Consequently, this has made the Tolerance Foundation a prominent and first-rate educational organization in Canada and Quebec. In recognition of this, the Foundation has been awarded numerous national and international prizes.
