Paul James Miller (born July, 1966) is a radio presenter who resides in Twickenham, South West London. He currently presents The Paul Miller Show (weeknights 2200 - 0100) on BBC Local Radio in the South of England.

Background in TV and Radio

Before his current run on the radio, Paul was offered a job at Channel 4's Big Breakfast [ [http://www.bbc.co.uk/hampshire/content/articles/2006/10/23/paul_miller_feature.shtml BBC - Hampshire - Local Radio - Paul Miller ] ] , but turned down the offer because of his love for the radio.Paul first appeared on BBC Radio Solent in 1994 as a traffic reporter on the station's morning slot.His late show is broadcast to five stations (reaching much of the South of England):
* BBC Radio Solent
* BBC Radio Berkshire
* BBC Radio Kent
* BBC Radio Oxford
* BBC Southern Counties Radio

The Paul Miller Show

The style of the show is relaxed and listeners are invited to phone in about a subject Paul has chosen, which unlike most phone-ins is always non-political and unrelated to the day's events. Regular listeners to the show play an active part in the broadcast as a result of this invitation(such as thinking up headlines for the Daily Miller,which is about thinking up a headline for a strange story in the news), and the subjects covered are normally of a very general kind that anyone could take part in, for example "Journeys that have gone wrong" or "Sweet brands that no longer exist". In the past, lucky listeners used to be able to win one of his "'Dusty Bugs'" but due to a combination of short supply and the BBC competition ban, the show no longer gives them out.

The Paul Miller Show is produced from Monday and Tuesday by Neil Sackley. Neil Sackley reads the news and weather and provides topical surveys which often provide topics for conversation. He also presents "Sackley Survey's" - Reports that may appear in newspapers the following day. Other nights the producer is Tim.

The Friday Night Party

Paul has recently relaunched his Friday evening show as his 'Friday Night Party' (a reference to his 'Saturday Night Party' which he hosted when he presented the evening show at the weekend). He also used to present a special music request edition of his show called "The Music Club" every Sunday from 9.00pm to midnight and, in September 2003, presented an outside broadcast of this show from the BBC Music Library in London, which was so successful that he repeated it each year since.

The Friday Night Party is produced by Talia Slack and was previously produced by Lindle Markwell, who has recently gone travelling around the world with her husband.

The Facebook Group

Paul's listeners have created a Facebook group entitled [http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2709241647 "I Listen To The Paul Miller Show"] . The group interacts with the show on a nightly basis. Members range in all age groups from around the world and many are known for their participation over the years on the phone line to Paul.Games and affections that have come about from the group include:
* Miller Bingo
* Theme/party nights
* Discussion boards
* Photo galleries

Members of the group have affectionately named Paul as "Tinsel Ball" and producer Neil Sackley as "Neillie Combover". "Photoshopped" images in the image galleries highlight these nicknames in a jocular fashion.

Personal life

Paul Miller attended Whitton secondary school in Twickenham, London. Before working in a shop owned by his uncle, he worked in a casino as a croupier and as a nightclub DJ. Paul used to own a caravan near Bognor beach, but he had to get rid of it for unknown reasons - he was often teased by listeners for his holidays in his caravan, and is still frequently teased about his Citroën 2CV which he previously drove (he now jokes that he drives an Allepri, a cut-and-shut version of an Austin Allegro and a Ford Capri. His car is a frequent source of conversation and good-natured ridicule on the show). His 2CV was featured in the opening sequence of the BBC television broadcast Antiques Road Show, and it was borrowed by the makers for this purpose.

He "does not 'do' ironing", and is highly skilled in aromatherapy, possessing an eclectic selection of oils. In fact he recently did an outside broadcast from his oils factory, and even gave some away to lucky listeners.
