Blessed with exceptional arm strengh, the height|ft=6|in=4 McIvor became a regular starter in 1981, but his job was in danger after a disastrous 42-11 loss to Arkansas in week 5 of the season. Todd Dodge , regarded as a high school phenom, arrived on campus. He tried to compete for the starting quarterback position with Dodge andRob Moerschell again in 1983. CoachFred Akers eventually used all three of them in rotation. After graduation, McIvor was selected 80th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals in the1984 NFL Draft . He went on to play two seasons in the NFL, but only threw four incomplete passes (no completion) in 6 games overall.References
