Zhang Tianyi (zh-cp|c=张天翼|p=Zhāng Tiānyì; Wade-Giles: Chang T'ien-yi, real name: Zhang Yuanding; September 26, 1906 - April 28, 1985) was a Chinese children's writer noted for his satiric wit.

Zhang was born in Nanjing in 1906. Before the Second Sino-Japanese War, he worked as a teacher, journalist and minor official. During the war and after the establishment of the People's Republic of China, he continued to write and held various official posts, including the editorship of "Renmin Wenxue" (People's Literature).

His famous novels include "The Empire of Gold Duck" and "The Secret of the Magic Gourd".
