Starrucca is a borough in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 216 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Starrucca is located at coor dms|41|53|58|N|75|27|40|W|city (41.899334, -75.461135)GR|1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 8.8 square miles (22.7 km²), of which, 8.7 square miles (22.6 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.23%) is water.

Demographics

As of the censusGR|2 of 2000, there were 216 people, 89 households, and 67 families residing in the borough. The population density was 24.8 people per square mile (9.6/km²). There were 124 housing units at an average density of 14.2/sq mi (5.5/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 98.15% White, 0.46% from other races, and 1.39% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.39% of the population.

There were 89 households out of which 19.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.9% were married couples living together, 4.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.7% were non-families. 20.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.70.

In the borough the population was spread out with 18.5% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 31.0% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45 years. For every 100 females there were 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.3 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $34,500, and the median income for a family was $37,750. Males had a median income of $33,333 versus $20,000 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $23,071. About 12.0% of families and 18.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 36.1% of those under the age of eighteen and 21.2% of those sixty five or over.
