Lake Wallenpaupack . Some kindergarten children attend school in the former Hawley High School, a WPA project and located in the borough.According to the

There were 673 housing units at an average density of 1,101.3/sq mi (426.0/km²). The racial makeup of the borough was 97.24% White, 0.92% African American, 0.15% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.31% from other races, and 1.00% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.61% of the population.There were 593 households out of which 28.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.8% were married couples living together, 14.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 43.5% were non-families. 40.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 23.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.18 and the average family size was 2.96.
In the borough the population was spread out with 24.9% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 23.8% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 19.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
