British School of Paris

The British School of Paris (BSP) is a British school in the Ile-de-France, France.

History

The school was founded by its first headmistress, Mary J. Cosyn, in 1954 and, under her ownership and management, was known as The English School of Paris until her retirement in 1980.

In 1981, with the encouragement of the British Embassy, it was acquired by the non-profit making Association for English Education in Paris and renamed The "British School of Paris".

The BSP celebrated its 50th anniversary as a school in 2004.

Campuses

The BSP comprises two separate campuses; one junior school and one senior school. However, they are in the process of trying to make a new junior school

Junior Schools

The original Junior school is located in Bougival. The second Junior school is located in Croissy-sur-Seine.

The Bougival Junior school runs from primary to year six, but the Croissy Junior school runs from year three to year six. From then you move up to the Senior school (year 7 to year 13) Both school campuses are located on spacious terrain. The Bougival campus has an especially expansive campus located in the hills off of the 'Chemin du Mur Parc'.

Plans for a new junior school are being made. This will include a creche / nursery for younger children. Children from both schools will merge together for this. Building is expected to start in September 2009.

Senior School

The Senior school is located in Croissy-sur-Seine and the current head master is Mr. Richard J. Woodall, assisted by two deputy heads, two heads of Key Stage, and the Head of Sixth Form. Next January the job of head master will be passed on to Doctor Sommer.
