Sharon Katz (b.1954 Montreal) is an animated film artist. She completed both a B.Sc. (Biology) and a B.A. (Visual Arts) before concluding her formal studies with a Postgraduate Diploma in
Animation Filmmaking.In November 1994 InterAccess Technology posted her children's book "Waking In Jersualem" on the
internet . It was posted in its complete form including all the illustrations. An email fromColgate University Computer Science Department to InterAccess Technology followed shortly after stating that as far as they knew this was the first illustrated book to appear on the internet. “Waking In Jerusalem” can still be found online along with its companion book “My Blue Suitcase". Both books are still regularly visited online by kindergarten classes as part of their curriculum.In 1998 she turned her sights on animation. Using an
Apple Macintosh computer and software she hand draws each frame on aWacom tablet. While the images in her films have the feel of paint-on-glass, they are, In fact, created with brushes unique to the digital realm.She currently lives in Canada.
