Kickoff specialist

Kickoff specialist

Kickoff specialist (KOS) is a position in American and Canadian football. Kickoff specialist are members of the special team. They are responsible to kick the ball in the kickoff. During the 2008 NFL season, Rhys Lloyd of the Carolina Panthers was the only player employed solely as a Kickoff Specialist. For other teams, it is surprising that kickoffs are primarily done by place kickers unless if he has weaker legs or injuries, then punters will take over that role.
