Illinois serving students from the Village of Algonquin and its surrounding areas, including students of Carpentersville, Gilberts, and Lake in the Hills,Illinois . The school is located at 2601 Bunker Hill Drive, placing it firmly within the boundaries ofMcHenry County, Illinois .Harry D. Jacobs High School is part of
Community Unit School District 300 , and one of three high schools serving the district. Feeder schools to Jacobs includeWestfield Community School , andDundee Middle School . The school is also a member of theIllinois High School Association ,Fox Valley Conference .The school colors are brown and gold, and the mascot is the 'Golden Eagle'.
Current status
Over two thousand five hundred and twenty three high school students [2,523] are currently in attendance at Jacobs High School, causing major construction and addition modifications to the school to occur. The new construction [completion date September, 2007] added many new classrooms, a media/library center, and a competition field house and central offices for the faculty. The new construction was needed to accommodate both the large number of current students and staff and the expected influx of new students in approaching years.

Jacobs follows the
4 X 4 Intensified Block scheduling system as opposed to a traditional class scheduling system. Students surpass most traditional high school credit totals because students can earn up to 132 high school credits upon graduation. Students attending Jacobs have three to four classes per day, each of a eighty-five minute duration. As of the 2008-2009 school year, Jacobs discontinued flex and imposed a three lunch hour system, A, B, and, C lunches in effort to reduce crowding.Notable alumni

Smoking Popes - A rock band that was formed in the early 1990's. They signed toCapitol Records in 1994 but then split up a few years later. The band reunited in November 2005 and remain active today.*
Evan Jager (Class of 2007) - distance runner. 9th in the nation for cross country as high school junior. State champion in 4x800, 1600, 3200, and cross country. Fourth in the nation in the two mile and third in the mile as a high school senior. Running for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Evan finished 8th in the 2008 NCAA 1500 meter championships and was the victor at the USA Track and Field Junior National Championships in the 1500. Noted for his flowing, sexy locks and abnormally short shorts, as seen at the University of Wisconsin Camp of Champions. Evan provisionally qualified for the 2008 USA Olympic Trials in the 1500 meter run.School organizations

* Interact - Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young students ages 14-18. The program gives students the opportunity to participate in meaningful service projects while developing competitive-eating skills and meeting new friends. Through service activities, members learn the importance of:
** Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others and their community
** Developing leadership skills and personal integrity
** Advancing international understanding and good will
* HDJ Chess Club - The Chess Club was established in 2004 and is a place for anyone to come and play chess against other HDJ students for fun. However, the club hosted its first tournament in 2006 and another in 2007. Chess Club currently has plans to play other schools in tournaments starting in the 2007-2008 school year.
* Asian Club - For Asians...
* Model United Nations - The HDJMUN is currently in its second year and offers students interested in politics and international relations an opportunity to learn how the United Nations works. Students participating in the club travel to other schools and universities and represent countries on certain topics. HDJMUN is planed to close if more students do not join.
* HDJ Band - The HDJ Bands consist of the concert band, symphonic band, and wind ensemble, as well as jazz band, jazz ensemble, and percussion ensembles. In the fall, All band members participate in the H.D. Jacobs Golden Eagles Marching Band and perform at half time shows. In the winter, the pep band perform at five boys' games and five girls' games. The H.D. Jacobs Band is directed by Mr. Anthony Gnutek, a graduate of Lake Park High School and Northern Illinois University, and Mr. Don Stinson, a graduate of Joliet Central High School and VanderCook College of Music.
