Singapore uses a time zone eight hours in advance ofUTC , (UTC+8 ). It is known as Singapore Standard Time or SST, and is the same asAustralian Western Standard Time , Central Indonesia Time,Malaysian Standard Time ,Philippine Standard Time ,Chinese Standard Time ,Hong Kong Time andMacau Standard Time .History

longitude , Singapore is 103° 51' 16" East of Greenwich, and lies within the UTC+7 time zone. BeforeMay 31 ,1905 , the local time was 6:55:25 ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. During theJapanese occupation of Singapore ,UTC+9 was used. Asdaylight saving time and were used. WhenPeninsular Malaysia moved its standard time 30 minutes ahead of UTC+7:30 to UTC+8:00 in1981 , Singapore followed suit for economic and political reasons.
