In Japan, an nihongo|attached organization|特別の機関|Tokubetsu no kikan|extra=literally, an organization of speciality [It is never called 特別機関 or special organization.] is an organization in the Japanese government that is attached to the Cabinet Office, ministries or their agencies and is established for some special purposes. It is distinguished from an affiliated institution. The classification was created when the amendments to the National Government Organization Law were promulgated on July 1, 1984. The amendments, in particular, made it clear that the National Police Agency is an organization attached to the National Public Safety Commission, which belongs to the Cabinet Office. It
